Fantasy and Reality in Western NY

Over time, I have realized that Spring in WNY is a season of wonder. Wondering what is going on. This week we finally got a glimpse of warmer weather. Am I encouraged? Will I abandon my winter doldrums? Am I sucked in to a happy place? You be the judge.

Fantasy Exhibit 1: Children playing in the sandbox. One of the children is extremely happy that she is allowed to wear spring fashion statement - capris.

Reality:
Sand is mud. Child is wearing wool socks and sweater.

Fantasy Exhibit 2: Skies are blue, no obviously snow clouds or flakes.

Reality:
Mud is brown. Mud is everywhere.

Fantasy Exhibit 3: Flowers are blooming. Buds are budding.

Reality:
While taking pictures, I am wearing sandals. With socks.

Finally, where has Nate spent the last several days? Getting more wood. To use right now. It remains very nippy, despite a few bogus 60° days.

I rest my case. I am certainly not sucked into any happy place. I embrace my doldrums. I am the face of reality.

Tomorrow's forecast: Windy with periods of rain and snow in the evening turning to snow late. Low 32F. Winds NNW at 20 to 30 mph. Chance of precip 90%. 2 to 4 inches of snow expected.
