So, no pictures but,
We did go pick out a dog today. She is a cute one too, all grey with a white crest on her chest. She will be officially made ours in about 10 days (more or less, it really depends on the breeders mood). She has some very good bloodlines; her father, mother and grandfather were all Italian champions. Needless to say we are very impressed at her potential. Of course now that I have said all this the dog will probably eat everything in my house. That will make for great blog fodder. Pictures will come when the dog gets here. That's all for now. bye.

"great blog fodder"
try "great grudge fodder"
~I think I'm already disgruntled.
um....
Hmmm, I'm confused...this must be a husband and wife tag team blog thingy.
Anywho, Mira: Thanks for the prayers, we need them. I think the reason I handled it so well is because I've been doing it for 5 years with Caedmon. I was praying that Presley would follow in his footsteps, but it appears she's doing just that.

she's not disgruntled. She just like to use big words. Anyway, I just thought I should clear that up. Oh and yes this is a tag-team effort.
"I was praying that Presley would follow in his footsteps,"
Ummm...that should be would NOT follow in his footsteps.
I'm obviously sleep deprived.
sleep? what's that?
whoa, I totally didn't get that you were dog expectant. I thought you were dog planning.
and I thought the dog in question was a rott, though the "gray" part makes me think "wrong again".
and Mr. Mira needs to get his own identity or sign his posts.
and, since in a previous life I was a psych major (little known factoid - but only because it was easy to pair with el.ed.), I have to wonder if since Mira has the critical mother identity with a completely dependent boyo then Mr. Mira feels like he needs his own boyo? just a thought.
:)
hehe, the dog is a cane corso. hence the "read the archived post" remark a couple of posts ago. The rott that I had originally thought about is no longer for sale, and upon hearing that corsos are highly trainable and loyal E sort of warmed up a bit.

Smokey (our rottweiler) resents that. He can carry dirty dishes into the kitchen...how much more trainable do you need?
ours will be bi/tri lingual. I think we will keep some italian commands, english and of course sign language
ooh! I'm all for the sign language part!
are you teaching the boy too?
not american sign language. more like owner-dog special sign language; hand signals ya know?

are you teaching the boy too?
I wish. unfortunately, I lack the determination to learn it myself, so we're limited to a few basic objects. When he's learning to talk, I'm going to put cards around the house with the asl and italian translation for anything I can think of to help me remember to use those words so perhaps he'll have a limited trilingual vocabulary in the recesses of his brain. I found a great dictionary of asl signs online with video of each word that I really like.
~xx
what helps is a lot of signs are close to mime....and yeah the videos are really helpful!
the books can be confusing with the signs...and some signs are so close that it's easy to make a mistake...like the time i MISTAKENLY signed "I'm pregnant" LOL yeah, that was bad.
(side note, you'd be amazed at how many people thought I was pregnant after I had my surgery!! sheesh!)
probably the dog could have an italian name, like, oh, Madonna?
heh.
