Happy Thanksgiving

mmm-mmm!!

The boy gets his first solids (E would like you to know that since the boy cannot yet sit up on his own that she will have nothing to do with feeding him anything but milk. I, on the other hand, embrace change and growth and therefore let him eat it if he likes it, which he did)

she didn't say no, she just didn't participate. unless you consider showing him how to chew participating.

The cuz says NO SOLIDS until he can sit up on his own! (sez the cuz who HATES treating babies for pneumonia b/c they ASPIRATED the food their dads gave them!)
also, have I ever told you my theory on how jim became allergic to milk? BEING FED IT BEFORE HE WAS SUPPOSED TO!!!
We'll grow old and osteoporetic together, sigh.
Still luv yall though! ;)

pureed plain sweet potato, in case anyone was interested. and that bit on his face is all he got. Oh wait, there was another bite about half that size a few minutes later.

I'm actually not too worried about introducing "real*" food anytime soon. I may let him play with some soupy pureed business in a few months (like more than 6), but I have a feeling he'll be begging long before I'm ready to give up the convenient system we've got going now in favor of all the thinking involved with the whole "real" food stage. I've read a bunch about the downsides of early introduction of anything other than mama or canned milk, not the least of which is the potential for allergies, so I'm definitely a convert. Besides, who wants to put stuff in a blender every night when they can just wait a few months, oversteam the veggie in question and skip the blender entirely?

at least now when the doc asks if I've begun feeding him, I can say "yeah..." kind of like if he asks if EP is sleeping through the night I can reply in the affirmative (did you know that most pediatricians consider 5 straight hours to be "through the night?" So yeah, he does that on occasion...

*if we ever go all sci-fi and only eat one thing, I bet it will be just like BM: automatically, individually formulated for each person for each meal. Nobody would be fat, that's for sure :)

Hi, guys. My word, whatta cute kid! Nice pic of the meal, too -- good job on portion control. Looks like the exact same small plates we use! I should stick to just one plateful, though. Didja see the meal pic Johnny took at our house on Thanksgiving (dog got too much turkey trimmin's - lost his din' under the dining room chair where one of Z's friends from school was sitting. mmm-mmm). - Dad W.

jim's parents admitted to me once that they fed his brother CHILI when he was two days old.
again, enter my theory on Jim's milk allergy.
It's amazing his brother survived....

Johnny took the pic with his cell phone. Don't know if they still have it, can e-mail it or what. But it was a real undigested close-up. Poor Hee-Na - she was grossed out, frozen in her seat until we cleaned up. At least it was the color of the carpet ...

ick, our pup should be here tomorrow. (Saturday) hopefully the rugs will stay intact. I have a three day weekend this weekend to house-train her. ha, wish me luck.
