"not bad for a first try....." is about the best we could come up with for a reaction in this household ("Kinda ridiculous" is about the worst, so far). I've got some wool that has been coffee-dyed (rather poorly, but still) drying for my next project, a soaker that (hopefully) will fit the boy right now. It'll look great over his training undies that someone is going to send me in the mail because they don't carry them here at the NEX. hint hint.

look, I made something
So I keep asking my mother to knit things for me, specifically diaper related. Knowing my mother, I had a feeling her compliance would come with an expiration date and sure enough, my last package from her contained, among other wonderful goodies, several pairs of knitting needles and some fisherman's wool. I did some googling and found the pattern that required the least amount of knowledge and said "can be completed in about 2 hours." HA. Three days and a cherry kool-aid bath later, I present my first ever finished knitting project, a newborn sized soaker for the fat of stomach and skinny of leg. And no, this is not a strange way of announcing that I'm pregnant again. In case you wondered.

me, me, pick me, I want them, please!
oh wait, I'm not pregnant yet.
;) minor detail.
tell the MAN I think it's great and let's see him try to do as well!
-u know who.
I am impressed actually.
here is a link to cut and paste:

that will help with the legs. You can undo the legs and rebind if they are too snug, if that's worth it to you.
But all in all, I'm impressed.

the man has other talents, like standing in the way of 85 mph vulcanized rubber (see previous post)
well look at it this way - you have either a) a sweater for the cat or 2) something to set aside for when you do decide it's time for another baby or 3) a tea cozy for those rare two spouted teapots :-)
OR
it could be a nice helmet cozy for the man who stands in front of vulcanized rubber ;-)
*roflol* The pic made me snicker (good job, E, by the way... It's by far better than I could have done) and then reading B&E's post really got me laughing. I wonder if the helmet that belongs to the man that stands in front of vulcanized rubber would fit in it.....
well, that's what I get for not "swatching" and deciding early on NOT to go back and fix every single mistake (trust me, there are a ton). Basically it's a lot wonkier in person than on screen. The waistband would probably fit on the boy's head, while the legs MIGHT go around his wrist, so perhaps a cute hat with ear flaps? I could over-dye it brown like a bear... Drawstrings thankfully cover a multitude of sins (including the chunk of accidental moss stitch in the middle of the ribbing, and i *think* it'll be ok after a good lanolization and blocking.
LB, you don't want this one, but if you send me wool I might make you a much cuter version :)
wool, huh?
well, christmas is approaching. you need another (better) care package......
