We went for a walk yesterday, the boy, the dog, and I, and I finally remembered to bring my camera to document bits of Sicily in the spring. I was going to take pics of the town of Mineo, and of the geep, but the clouds and sheepdogs interrupted my good intentions. So instead I decided to shoot the flowers that cover the fields outside the base. The only problem with this is that the fence is mere yards from the highway and every time I crouched to get the perfect shot, the Italians honked and waved and ruined the moment. Perhaps it was at the boy, completely zonked on my back for his ever shrinking morning nap. Perhaps it was the dog, enjoying some off leash time by chasing the palm branches and her (lack of a) tail. Perhaps it was at the crazy American lady picking weeds through the fence (these are the same Italians who burn the grass alongside the road, after all). At any rate, I quickly decided that instead of stopping to take a pic of every pretty "weed" I found, it would be better to take them home with me instead. Hope this brings a bit of cheer, especially to those of you to whom spring won't become a reality for at least a month more. Enjoy.

Yes, I'm sufficiently jealous. Thanks ;) *lol* We are seeing signs of spring here... little J brought me a daffodil two days ago. It is still looking beautiful in a bud vase (yes, it's real). Oh, and yesterday, I aquired tan lines!! Fightin' fires - does your color good....
are you sure that is from the sun?
Yes, I'm sure. The 2nd one was more of just a "sit and watch" than anything so we got to stay in normal people clothes, and since it was nearly 80, I turned the jeans into capris and the t-shirt sleaves got rolled up. So... I think so anyway :)
pretty weeds, pretty flowers. Nice camera.
Summer is slowly starting here, Spring is long gone. 80 today for my run. gag.

ps-plans are just zipping along for the trip to Italia! FINALLY! I need to get back to studying for my boards instead of surfing the internet/making/cancelling reservations! Hope you have a backpack for EP? I can handle sling, am wondering how Jim will do....And that lady at the B and B has just been GREAT! e-mailed me back right away, really friendly, great English, WONDERFUL directions on how to get from the airport to her cheaply (I'm liking her better and better already!)
my favorite part about the customer reviews was the one that said,
"the owner is a mad woman...the place was a little weird! See for yourself!"
everyone else loved her though, and she makes a "fantastic capo," so I'm psyched.
making a backpack type carrier that should be man-friendly, will also have a wrap for me to use (definite learning curve).
wow-making a backpack type carrier? you're much more adventurous than me! yeah, I thought that comment was funny. I think the american who left it must be pretty uptight b/c the other 269 people loved her! ;)
