The USDA has recently proposed a change to the WIC food allowance for nursing moms, to the tune of "fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lower fat dairy products, and dairy alternatives such as soy beverages and tofu!" There are also more options for the nursing baby after he/she has begun to eat solids.
November 6 is the deadline for supporters of this new food package to submit their comments in favor of said revisions. If you're interested, you can comment online here, or read the whole letter and see other info and ways to show your support here.
bon apetit =)
