taste of home

anyone want to give me the number off the back of their magazine so I can look at recipes online? Apparantly they figured out I'm no longer a subscriber, so they took some of my privileges away =(

speaking of recipes, I have got to find a good one for tiramisu. We bought one in Motta (couldn't figure out how to ask for a piece, so we bought the whole pie. stupid americans.)

it was worth every penny though ($13 euro for 12 average sized slices).

muah! perfeto.

Okay, Okay, I guess I'll part with the recipe I obtained while living in Europe:
Tiramisu
5 egg yellows
7 tablespoons sugar
500 grams sour cream
5 egg whites
3 cups strong coffee
1 cup amarato
3 layers of Lady fingers
1) beat 5 egg yellows and sugar
2)beat 500 g Sour Cream and egg whites
3)add two mixtures together and beat well
4)set mixture aside
5)put coffee in with amareto, dip each lady finger right in and immediately out of mixture. lay lady fingers side to side on bottom of pan (or whatever you're using to serve it in)
6) cover first layer of lady fingers with egg, sugar and cream mixture. make two more layers. cover last layer with cocoa
7)must be 6 hours in fridge before eating.

ps-"sour cream" is German sour cream. you have to buy special stuff in the states. I can't remember the name of it. I will eventually.
pss-AB-please forward this comment when it arrives as an email to your account to AA and Mira. This is "Brenda's German Tiramisu" recipe from Irmgard.
psss-don't eat too much of this while you're there, at least not too much in one sitting. I ate this HUGE piece on honeymoon in europe and was so SICK of tiramisu for years afterwards. you know what they say about too much of a good thing....
