small harvest

in more ways than one ;-p  My vegetable garden was very minimal this year, which perfectly corresponded to the amount of time and energy I was able to devote to it.  This is not all I have growing; there was/will also be sugar peas, kale, corn, celery, lemon balm, lemon thyme, garlic, potatoes, big(ger) pumpkins, yellow squash, grapes, and Brussels sprouts. I think I was wise this year to only plant a few of each thing I was interested in growing.  Certainly not enough to put any away for the winter (aside from the volunteer squash up there...lots more still to be picked), but definitely enough to enjoy straight from the ground while hanging laundry, watching boys on the dirt pile, or plotting for next year's (slightly) bigger garden.

Oh I love this, thanks for posting! Cause our garden hasn't given us much of a harvest this year either (nor am I really there to enjoy it) so I was kind of bummed and thinking "maybe I won't bother next year". But this encourages me to think aw heck why not just give it what time I can and hey, if I get food then we win :o) Happy plotting for next year!

=) welcome. My favorite (I use the term loosely...though it was amusing) was the pretty carrot tops, and then the one or two inch long carrots attached to those greens.
